Upgrades to TurboII Please Post

I don't mean to cause any trouble or anything but im new to this forum. I recently bought a 10th aniversary rx-7 TurboII, I found out today it have a racing beat exhaust from the cat back and a fuel cut defenser the guy who owned it before me took very good care of the car and I know I will continue with the maitenence. I'm putting the car in for a fuel tune up at the end of july (this month) so its all prepped up and ready to be driven I want a test pipe and downpipe to complete the exhaust system but I dont know to iether get the 2.5inch downpipe or the 3in. because I dont know which will fit and where can I buy a test pipe that would work good for this combo? I want to get the car into the 13's, The car would be daily driven and be raced once in a blue moon I just want the power so that way when I want it ill have it. I want to use the stock turbo I dont really want to go past 12psi so I think that would be enough boost. So I would like to know 3in. or 2.5in. downpipe and test pipe to the racing beat Y pipe, Then for Turbo performance get a gauge pod, fuel controller, boost controller both electronic but after that im confused all I want is just to be able to tap 13's so could anyone give me a list of upgrades in order. I don't mean to offend anyone by posting this but im new to this and would like to try and do my own stuff. Thank you for your time

Yeah I got this guy on aim saying I would have to ditch my whole system if I wanted to do the 3in. DP, But I already have the mufflers and Y pipe. What's up with that?

Thank you this guy was confusing me so bad I told him I had the cat back exhaust and he said I could only get a 2.5in" DP, But I dont mind about my cats so I can replace that pipe with no problem. So I guess ill start ordering parts tommorrow and wait for the tune up to come around till I put them on. Thanks guys! What you guys think I should do next for the intake its the stuck box and everything I dont mind scrapping it but what air filter you guys reccommend? Thank you for your time.

K&N is the best, but most are better than stock. Rigging up some piping or ducting to feed cold air to the filter is a good thing to do too.

You want to upgrade your fuel system too, with 3" exhaust, intake and fcd you run the risk of running lean and blowing your engine. A fuel controller will help this but I think you should re-wire your fuel pump at least, or get an upgraded one.

Racing Beat makes two different exhuast systems. One is the complete turboback exhuast system. It is 3.18'' From the Downpipe all the way until the split in the Y pipe. From that point on it's 60mm to the mufflers. None of these components will bolt on to existing stock parts.

For example, you can not bolt on the Y-pipe and mufflers from the turboback system onto a stock FC.

Racing Beat also makes exhuast parts that will bolt up to the stock parts. From the description of the car it's easy to see that the catback on the car currently is NOT from the turboback system. The Downpipe and Presilencer would not bolt up to the system he currently has on the car.

You have a couple of options. Since you are using the RB catback that bolts up to the existing exhuast, other dp/mp combo's even from other brands would bolt up fine. If you choose however, you could pick up a 2.5'' RB dp/pre silencer combo and call it a day.

Ultimately 3'' exhuast might provide slightly more power, but due to the low amount of modifications you plan to do on the car I believe the 2.5'' system should meet your goals just fine. A smaller exhuast will always help combat boost creep on the small s4 wastegate.

gsracer is correct, I tyried to tell him that 5 times but he would not listen. Also do not run over 10psi with the stock IC, if you do setup a water injection system. And for reliablity cases you will not see 68HP gain, because you will be running to lean, I had the same setup on my car and it blew. It was running very lean becasue of the deposits in the tubo and exhaust. You wil need to richen it up abit with a 3" and lose a few hp.

Well you went back and forth you confused the living crap out of me, I told you I was planning on getting a fuel controller like the SAFCII. I am going to order a 2.5" downpipe and find a midpipe but they wont go on the car right away till I have all my gauges setup and hopefully already have fuel controller.
