Disconnecting the battery doesn't reset the ecu on a series four? How then do you go about resetting the ecu?

There's nothing to reset. Its a dumb computer. It has no memory. Got altheimeres(sp). Anyone care to prove that statement wrong??????? Does not even remember the simplest codes. Oh, the codes.......good enough to tell you a plug fell off, but not much more. Shucks, I can do that with my eyeballs faster than I can hook up the led's./

Disconnected the tps plug and then the engine would rev, so I drove it home. Found the tps plunger was sticking internally. The outer part was moving in and out, but the internal was not.

CARTMILL......Please note he has a WAldo fuel pump that is making his car run rich. Its overwhelming his fpr.
correct. it was idling PERFECTLY (about 800 rpms, no hesitation, but smoking) and i disconnected my traling plugs and it didnt change...
and right now i am kind of in a bind and cant just pull a stock fuel pump out of my *****. my stock one is at home (120 miles away)

Just my opinion, but your obsessed with the trail plugs. Forget them. The car should run just fine with only the lead plugs.

Sometime today, could clarify something for me? It idled just fine. Great. But after that I don't understand something. When you stepped on the pedal ......the engine did not rev/???????? Or rev'd very slow? It does not start right now, does it???? Sorry, I get lost in reading the above threads. At first I was sure it did not start at all. Now it starts????? If it does start, but not rev....please try the thought about taking the tps plug off and trying again.

no, it started before all this madness after relentless cranking. now after cleaning the plugs and ****, it wont start for the world. before, it would idle, smoking, smoothly. i would try to rev it, it would go up really slowly and alot of rich smoke would come out of the exhaust.

HAILERS....

First off, it Alzheimers (you may already be suffering from it..)...

As far as the ECU, I stand by it being a good troubleshooting tool, nothing more. And I had one ECU tell me when the TPS was out of adjustment. Bash it all you want, but it IS a handy tool for preliminary troubleshooting.

Sorry about your troubles man. My 88TII keeps stalling out but I can always get it to start by using the fuse pull method. Good luck bro.

one question, do you guys think that my timing may be off? i havent checked it since i got the car just assuming it was fine. but now that i think of it, could this be a problem if the timing is too retarded?

I think your pump may be making you run stupid rich (didnt know you had one earlier). Get either a s-afc to control the fuel injectors or an aftermarket fpr.
