The car sounds flooded after it's first started. When the car starts and the rpm climbs briefly and then dies out could be either a vacuum leak or the fuel switch within the AFM is faulty. Jumpering the fuel check connector will bypass this potential AFM problem.

Ever try to figure out where the whistling noise comes from at around 1000 RPM?

Well, it's either a fan belt. Or you have a vacuum leak and a hissing sound of air from somewhere.

There's a relay just underneath the dash and to the right of the steering wheel column. It's Yellow and Black. Has two rows of wires. Bottom row has two wires, one Black and one Brown. Jumper these two wires together.

also why is your battery in the very back of the hatch? positive wire is probably getting hot because there is too much resistance for that size and length of cable. put the battery back where its supposed to go or get correct gauge wire. also ground from body should go straight to ground at chassis. only need 2-3' to go from negative terminal to the body of the car somewhere appropriate.. rear strut tower/strut top bolt?
