So they could keep track of which base models were to be turned into Sports via the option package.
Yeah, I was 3 years old when my car was sold, but I have all the original fancy sales materials that you do and in no piece of it is the car refered to as an RX-7 Sport. It lists the car as an RX-7 with the Sport package.
Thanks for your help old man,

Mazda USA marketing dropped the S, GS, and GX model designation for 86-87 and instead called them the Base, Sport package, Luxury package. Since then everyone shortens that too Base, Sport, Luxury, dropping the package. Mazda Marketing did this to help change the image away from the FB which had the GS and GX labels pasted on the car. Everywhere else that NA models were sold, (for example Canada) you still got the car as a GS or GX. They didn't take a base model and add stuff too it to make it a Sport as you suggest and then call it an added on package. It was built that way from the factory as planned as its own model. Only in the USA was it sold as a RX-7 with Sport package.
Okay in one last attempt to help you learn something about the car you claim to drive, lets look at that window sticker one more time. Granted the window sticker is a USA thing, but that seems important too you.
The base (and Luxury) model(s) had single piston front brakes. Yet the GS model (or as you like to say: RX-7 with Sport package) had 4 piston front brakes standard.
Now if it really was a option package for the base model, the 4 pot brakes would be an option... But they are not. They are a standard feature.
So you can continue to think that the Sport was a base model, but everyone else will think you are as clueless and stubborn as I currently do when every you suggest it.

Yes you got me, I lie, I don't drive a Sport, because if I did I would know anything and everything about the car as you do. FYI that was a little sarcasm for you. IMO you spend a little too much time researching the car you own, rather than driving it.
The "4 pot" brakes as you like to say, where standard that is true. But they were a standard part of a U.S. specific option package, so that would make them techinically an option.

FYI, my first post was an insult to you because you insult people all the time. That made my opinion useless? By your logic, your opinion is always useless then. I would have to agree with you.
The mindless lackeys that wipe your butt? Read this thread one more time and you will see the *** kissers that lay before you, or should I say behind you?
I hope that you get voted off the island,

Re: NZ
This is actually getting quite funny.
Find me an example of me actually insulting someone. Keep in mind that pointing out someone is factually incorrect or saying they don’t know about something is not an insult. If you think it is, perhaps you should find a forum that won’t upset you so much.
Perhaps my “*** kissers” would like to respond to this one.
Damn, that actually is funny!

why are we still talking about this for....?
we all know there's no way in hell a smog pump
will put enough air in a engine to boost it
the laws of physics apply to rotary engines
too.
I may not know alot about RX-7's
but what I do know about is superchargers
since I grew up with them on dads race cars
and for the last 12 years I have had them
on my mustangs etc...
so the basic fact here is that there is NO WAY
a single smog pump ported(whatever) to the
max will ever be able to boost any type
of car engine.
I am not trying to disappoint you...
just that this will not work..

I think some people are just a little off base. NZCONVERTIBLE is one of the very few people on this forum I can rely on to have accurate information. Same with ICEMARK and SIX ROTORS. TED would be ok if I had urge to upgrade the turbo. There's more out there but my memory is short. They are good also.
But, when you say NZCONVERTIBLE is mean spirited, well I just don't know where you are coming from. I read his answers and the thought has never crossed my mind that he was rude or mean spirited. If you want rude, just read TED. But I'm starting to understand why TED gets that way. This thread from the beginning needed to be slam dunked or ignored.
Sooooooo......NZ, I read an article today that you might be interested in. It started with this headline:
*But Tuesday, the Kimberly-Clark Corp. announced its intention to retrain the nation to use wet toilet paper*
So, do you want to stay with the Charmin tp, or do you want to go with the new wet tp?? Signed: Running dog and lackey of NZ.
P.S. You sure Oregon can't just sorta break off with California when the BIG DAY comes?

This is a funny thread. For many reasons.
The NZ guy was being an ***, but Blacksport
is a dipshit, I can say that because I have known him all his life. He does infact own a 87 Sport. below is a pic of it. It appears to me that whoever started this post was
just stating an idea he had and wanted some feedback
not a lecture. I mean this is rediculous, everyone with more knowledge then others should help in positive ways, I know that knowledge is not a direct sign of age, knowlegde is gained through personal attemps and sacrifces made by that individual to learn. By interaction with others, AND ESPECIALLY BY MISTAKES MADE, everyone who has posted has made valid points. there are a few guys on this forum who really know a **** load about REX's like IceMark and you F'ed up by pissing him off Ike he is cooland really knows what he is talking about. any ways well I feel better now.
everyone have a good forth of July now, ya hear.

Hey NC i was just saying that you and Ike were being
dumb. you are in my opinion you know your ****.,
I would say more alot more than Ike, its just the whole
Eugene should float away thing was dumb. anyways
that not the point. Oh and one other thing this goes to
everyone, its not fair to take a few words from a
sentence and make a quote out of it. You are taking
those words out of context and making them stand
alone thus giving them a different meaning or implied
thought. This thread now sucks ***. can someone please close it. Thanks Matt22

In reality, I could care less. There are plenty of experienced RX-7 guys I know locally as well as through the internet who have manners, and do not discriminate against me soley because of my age and my willingness to stand up to guys like you.

Someone needs to get a mod to just close this thread, it had flamewar written all over. How did we go from ripping on this air-pump supercharger to arguing over if it was a sport option, or sport model? Seems to me everyone's gone a little flame happy.

Someone, a couple of pages back, used my posts as an example of NZ's being an ***. I said no such thing. In fact, I've have agreed with him on all points except those of phillosophy. I think this thread became a very ugly battle ground because some very experienced, apparrently intelligent, and knowledgeable individuals tried to help someone who clearly wasn't asking for help. The flaws had been pointed out. Peacekeeper didn't ask "Should I?" He said "I am going to..." I've also been accused of attempting to make friends aimlessly. This is not true. I truly do not care what anyone thinks of me. In fact, I pride myself on being intense and focused, which usually results in my veing refered to as an *** at the mildest. I coem from a very different phillosophical foundation. Although it is illogical to attempt to "boost" a rotary with an air pump, I have defended peacekeeper because I believe it to be in my best interests. I do not want to take the time to experiment with this, but would like to see what DOES happen when he's done. Yes, I know, most of the knowledgeable people want to scream "NOTHING!!!" in responce. Please refrain. We know what you have said, and believe that even if it is nothing, it will be worth it to us for peacekeeper to have spent his time on it.
At this point I am tempted to back NZConvertible, except his completely tolerant, polite, intelligent, and experienced manner in this and other threads suggests that he does not need my help.
Matt22, please consider PMing someone before you use their posts as your amunition. You have shot yourself in the foot so many times in this thread, I'm limping for you. I think you would benefit from better understanding the motives of people you think you agree with. You may also consider PMing those you have issues with. As long as you are polite, and make it clear that you understand that it is your problem, and you only seek clarification, I expect most people will be happy to ablige.

OMG,
I had no intention for this thread to be so destructive. I would like to ask the moderators to close it asap, so that noone else can be thrashed over something stupid as has been brought up in my post. I am only posting these to keep everyone informed on what I am doing, I have no alternate motive for what I'm doing. So please delete this or something.

Mazda actually experimented with an engine rigged with a super high efficiency air pump. It's in the back of the 2nd gen Yamaguchi book.
In theory, the pump is just like a supercharger, but only offers a minor increase at best (that's with an intricate design and factory tolerances). The idea is pretty much a bastard roots supercharger.
Oddly, the innovation/idea the guy's got is sound, it's just the execution that's basically impossible and not worth the effort, money, and problems you'd have with it down the road. Anybody know what happens if you were to supercharge the turbocharger???
