Unstick apex seals on a rebuild motor siting
Hey guys i have a rebuild S5 motor that had been sitting for 2 years. Been so busy that I never got to install it.
I wanted to make sure the apex seals are not stuck anr the front rotor has some not very springy and on one it apex seal it only compresses on one half and the other half barely moves.
The car was lubricates and in storage.
What would be the best way too unstuck them. The exhaust manifold is off and that where I started checking.
should I used wd4p or automatic transmission oil?

I’ve used marvel mystery oil on an engine sitting for way longer and was exposed to the environment with stuck apex seals. Worked great, freed them all up. Also tapped on the apex seals with a wooden dowel.
probably comparable with atf but I’ll let others chime in regarding atf’s detergents, etc.

thank you. I started to use mmo just on the apex seals and use a plastic stick to push them in. Doing this through the exhaust manifold. Gonna do this for a few days but they already feel way better. How much do the apex seals stick out? Doesnt seem like much as of right now.
