only thing it's probably worth is shaving off a few pounds in my opinion, but you take what you can get.

You won't get 12 extra horses. Not worth the trouble of getting the front bolt off. If you were doing a rebuild then get one.

i got an underdrive pulley from mazdaracing.com for $60. I had to do the front cover oil seal so I figured why not do it at the same time. I can't really tell you how much of a difference it made as I did some other mods at the same time. Just remember, if you do end up doing it, wedge the clutch down before you loosen the main pulley bolt, you don't wanna screw up anything in there. Trust me, I am speaking from experience.

It's $180 on rx7store.net Doesn't the Unorhodox pully weaken your electronics b/c it's smaller than stock?

My third gen buddy took his underdrive pully off... unless you're driving, the voltage will drop like a stone at idle and you'll be running off your battery.... i really do not suiggest using them for a full time street car.

The pulley's do add power i don't understand the misscomprehention that everyone has, possibly because they are usually sold as LIEGHTWIEGHT underdrive pulleys. The wieght is not what adds the power its that facts that it turns your accessories slower. For those of us with a/c and P/s and still using our airpumps will see a bigger gain that those like myself that are only useing and altenator. And yes they will make the altenater make less amps, which suck for our already shitty system i say get a 3rd gen alt.

And that's exactly why they're not recommended for street cars. A street car engine spends most of its time at low-mid revs, so the stock pulleys are sized so the accessories spend as much time as possible close to their optimal speeds. Underdrive pulleys are specifically designed for engines that spend most of their time at high rpm (i.e. race engines), so the accessories do not need to be spun so fast to get the necessary performance from them, as well as avoiding problems like water pump cavitation.

I'd like to see proof of this outside of the vendor dyno sheets themselves.
