Understanding Port actuators
O.k. so i've recently taken apart the rotary to find the many problems that have condemned the apex seals and just all in all it's potential ability to have ran better.
Everything internally is in great condition, just needs new seals. I've been researching a lot on the port actuators.... i'm still not very understanding on their full purpose. One of them was siezed and with-held the force of excessive slamming with a hammer, haha. Anyways from what i understand and to what it looks like, they only open the ports with WOT just to let in more fuel/air. From what i was reading last night it looked as if they can have an effect on idle too. My rex idled fine when it was running, just way too rich from what i found out later was a broken vacuum hose to the fpr. Thanks for any input

They keep the velocity into the intake high by keeping the port size smaller until needed. They also provide more volume as the rpm increases when needed while keeping velocity high. The actuators are air motor the hose going to them from the acv supplied form the split air pipe from the cat or from the pump on S5. As pressure increases the ports open.
