Underhood Fuse Box Rewire?

I'm planning to upgrade the charging cables to 4-gauge in search of a few more volts and amps for my 87 NA. I'm little confused by the under hood fuse box. How are the wires connected the 80a fuse? The battery to fuse looks like a female connector but it isn't sliding off. Does the alt to 80a just twist into the nut?

I'd rather not snap anything trying to work out.

Thanks!

the 80 amp fuse on the Engine bay Fuse Box is attached with two 10 mm nuts on each side of the Fuse Holder.Take the fuse holder Off the Mount, and move the Plastic sides a bit..you will see the nuts,Take them off and the fuse will come off.If you try to take the fuse out without doing this, the fuse will snap off in the Holder.

Are you trying to solve a specific problem, or is this just an exercise in excess, i.e. bigger is better?
