underdrive pulley question?

i ordered the underdrive pulley from mazdatrix. my question is, i cant go 100 cause by the time i'm at like going 60 the temp needle just goes up. so my question is will the pulley keep the engine temp down. also will it take longer for the water to cool if its making it go slower. someone explain the hole underdrive pulley purpose.

The purpose of the inderdrive pulley is to underdrive accesories that rob your car of horsepower and torque. Things like the A/C pump, the Power Steering pump, etc. It has less revolutions per minute due to the size, and therefore doesn't run the accesories the same speed, so you don't lose power.

the under drive pulley will prevent cavitation which over heats the engine, however this only happens while driving at like 6000 rpm or higher. if you can't even do 60 then your problem is elsewhere, unless you're doing in it 2nd...

do you have the plastic pan under the engine and the ducting infront of the rad where the over flow is?

how old is your coolant and thernostat?

there should be a big plastic pan about 3' x 3' underneith the rad. and also some plastic ducting infront where the hood latch and over flow is. with out these the air will just go around the rad instead of through it. I'd also change the themostat. get a real mazda one.

the fan only helps while going slow. it won't be the problem while going 60.
