umm... a question on BAC, vaccum leaks, and PD...

hey guys... I installed a NEW Pulsation Damper on my 88 gxl and hand tight it, then i used the wrench and turn it about 180 degress, then i heard a click and stoped turning it... It doesnt seem to be leaking but I will double check, the car doesnt smell like gas anymore but im getting mad hesitation at 3800, 4500 and 5300 rpms the hesitations are for about 500-600 rpms its horrible.

I just bought a BAC gasket hopefully that will take some of it out. I blocked a nipple from the side closest to the firewall on the upper intake manifold the one that goes to the cruise control since the plastic nipple on the cruise control broke off. Can i take the entire cruise control assembly off?

Also, the car shakes aLOT, say im in 2nd gear and the speed limit is 20 mph i cant keep the same speed cuz if i let go off teh gas an dpress it again teh car will shake vilentlat idle around 700-800 its shaky and you see the little neddle on the rpm move maybe about 50 rpms or so up and down...

the passengers side bottom part by where that little exhaust manifodl is is shaky and rattleing like a mother in idle and everything... its like right by the exhaust manifold it shakes bad...

Also, when i press on the brakes hard i hear like a haul from the engine... only when i press kinda hard so i dont know what that could be.. maybe loose engine mounts and loose engine to tranny bolts?

guys thanx for the help seriously and im sorry for having to put you threw all these mess i looked throw alot of the search stuff but as of right now i dont have enough money for a grounding do it yourself wires or a hks ground system... im a college student and i appreciate all your time and support ( the engine is rebuild blueprinted and cleaned injectors, new water pump, new radiator, new thermostat, 30,000 mile engine mounts, you name it new air filter, blah blah blah also the BAC read good on the resistance electric voltage test thing. i also have new starter and new alternator and new belts, could be a bad timing?)

If its doing what mine did, like the engine just wants to jump right out of the hood and die, you probably have some kind of manifold leak. Check the ACV and that gasket...

Didn't you rebuild the motor?

You might have also put the wrong VAC lines to the wrong places...That would cause some rough idle screwiness.

How much does your gear shifter shake from side to side when you have trouble?

Man I hate to say it, but this could be related to a lot of things.

yeah i rebuilded my own motor, wrong vac lines in wrong places... i dont know about that you think so? i did replace all the vaccum lines with silicone vaccum lines... maybe i didnt put them where they were suppose to go... since i took them all out first then put the vaccumms back... but it didnt use to hesitate this much before i installed the pulsation damper. What do you mean the acv you mean tight it more or something? im thinking maybe the EGR is clogged like a mother not givign enough air to the vaccums?

I have a lot of respect for what you're going through.

Not to sound sarcastic, but you're going to know everything about Rotaries....

The ACV sits on you lower intake manifold. Right between the actuators. There's this half dollar size gasket that is in there and if its old and crappy it can cause idle problems....But put that on the back burner.

A new pulsation damper, and now you have a noticable change? Hmmmm.

Is it a brand new PD, or a junkyard one.

If it did this after you PD install I'd say that's a good place to start.

BTW, how much did you pay for new silicone vac lines.

I'm thinking of doing something like this to my s5 block that I'm just now tearing down..

I wouldn't start tearing off the VAC lines at all.

I would just try to varify that they're going to the right places.

An EGR valve for 300 bucks. What the hell is this world coming to? I would give you one of my spares but at the moment I don't have an extra. On the other hand I will be going to my fav junkyard pretty soon (some time next week hopefully) for some stuff and If I see one I'll pick it up for you. Probably cost about 10 bucks.
