Engines get hot when the run, this is normal. Are you saying that your motor gets too hot, or did you really not know that an engine gets hot as it runs?

I don't know what you mechanical abilities are so I can't recommend that you change your own motor mounts. I would change mine, but I am a mechanic and I know how to do that kind of stuff.

You should be able to handle the engine mounts, they aren't that hard.

For the heat issue, does your coolant gauge on the dash work? It shouldn't get about half way on the gauge if everything is functioning normally. Is coolant overflowing from the over flow bottle like its over heating? I don't have the stock air filter box but I don't remember that being too hot to touch after driving the car. There should be a plastic tray install on the bottom of the car and there should be two small ones in front of the radiator. Those need to be installed for maximum air flow through the radiator. You will have to do a search for info on how to trouble shoot the stock clutch fan to see if it is working but I'm not sure what else to suggest. Check with some local RX-7 owners to see if what you are descibing is related to the climate.

you smell coolant when you drive for a long time? Thats not good. Check the regional section of this forum and you will be able to meet people in your area. I know there are a bunch of guys on here from AZ, maybe someone local will be able to take a look at it for ya.
