two questions oil and coolant related

ok so i got this 86 na
it took the intake and exhaust off on the runners in the middle housing there's moisture.. i believe its oil. but the other to ports or good. i should prolly add that the intake manifold gasket was haggard

now moving to the exhaust the front rotor housing exhaust port was Covered in oil as if i split oil over it.

first question is how would one go about find out if the oil control ring is worn?
or why there is soo much oil in the housings?

second question is
how would one go about checking the coolant seals on a keg?

thank you

The oil control rings keep oil out of the combustion chamber when the engine is running. If the oil control rings are bad, the engine will burn oil.

What you are seeing in the housings might be a mixture of oil and fuel. You didn't mention anything about the history of the engine. Was it running before you took it apart? How many miles?

To check the coolant seals you have to pressure the coolant system and verify the pressure doesn't drop over a period of time.

The oil in the intake runners and in the exhaust port is normal, its from the MOP (metering oil pump) system which injects engine oil from the pan into the intake (from the LIM) and directly into the housings to aid in lubricating the apex and side seals, also helps with rotor-to-iron clearance. This is the reason why synthetic oils are not reccomended (though Royal Purple has been proven okay with the stock MOP system), and why you lose (or should lose) about a quart of oil about every 3000 mi IIRC.

As for your coolant question, I also do not know. My best guess would be just to check for leaks of coolant round it while running, and checking the exhaust for overly white smoke with a sweet smell to it. Keeping an eye on coolant levels and temp is another good way to keep an eye on it.

the oil you see in the runners are from the oil injectors on the intake manifold.

as for the coolant, you can pressure test the keg with something like this

I don't kno. Any history on the motor. I got it from unren and he got it from someone..
I woulda chucked it off to be the omp but this oil is thick and the lines are off the omp.

Is there anyway I can clean out all the reminents carbon and. All the oil.. I was thinking brakleen but that
Would prolly ruin ****... I don't have none of the manifolds aside from the lower intake. So I can't start
The car for a bit
