Two piece rotors for stock calipers?

Like the title says, are there any two piece rotors out there that can be thrown right in with the stock 4pot front rotors? I know giro disk makes some for hondas and a bunch of other brands but was wondering if anyone knows of a solution for the FC? Im trying to pull unsprung weight from there and no too interested in putting a bbk.

Thanks!

I can look it up but girodisc might be an option but it will probable require custom bells.

I'm currently designing a bbk with these

That is correct, there is non ready to fit. Or perhaps there is, I don't know (big brake upgrade that is). But I am going to have custom bells made for mine which will be a 360x32 ring.

I might make more front and rear bbk sets if there is interest and if it works well.

Here are some for the FD, idk if they'll work on FC
But, these guys have a variety of hats and rings and you could find something that works.

A company called performance MRP makes a big rotor bracket that retains the OEM caliper with use of an evo x rear rotor in the front and an FD rotor in the rear, and both of those rotors are made by gyrodisc. I can’t attest to the quality of the bracket as I haven’t installed mine, but they’re billet aluminum and look fairly stout.

This might not be your ideal solution though since you’re looking to reduce unsprung weight.

that is a really cool idea. Thanks for sharing, I had no idea this was an option. Gonna do some research and this just may be a good option. Although i’m thinking any weight savings will probably be offset by the larger rotor and caliper bracket…

Im looking into the MRP Bracket for the front and rear, the Front will acomidate a Evox Rear Rotor. THere seeems to be allot of options for the rotor. Does anyone have any feedback with the MRP bracket?

Here is the original development thread on here: https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generati...1132949/page3/

You can go with the MRP adapters and get the 2 piece rotors

The MRP solution won't fit with my 16" wheels nor save any unsprung weight (Which is my main goal). Looking for a plug and play solution like girodisc and other companies make for many platforms.

Plus cheaply designed caliper brackets can fail or bend at high temps. High quality bbk's always spend a lot of time developing a bracket that is sturdy and will withstand track abuse. I don't really trust those for track and canyon driving.

BTW, I did reach out to Girodisc and they would consider developing for our platform but they need at least 10 buyers to make it worth it for them to develop and they wouldn't be cheap. Somewhere around $800 for a front pair. I'm insane enough to go for it but not sure how many others would be...

Knut, have you considered Coleman Racing? If you could find a set of rotor rings in the size you need from whatever manufacturer makes them, you could have them (Coleman Racing) make you some rotor hats, probably for much less than what others would charge. You'd have to do some measuring but it really isn't that much trouble. Additionally, you could have them make the rotors too. (They actually make the rotors for Girodisc)

Brake rotor hats can be a bit of a nightmare to manufacture since you have to start with a huge blank of 6061 aluminum and mill it down. In the case of one-offs, many of the places that will do it will charge you an arm and a leg for their time if they are even willing to do it.

If you want, I can see if one of my buddies has a spare rotor from his road race FC that I can measure and give you the offset dimensions you need to make it happen. I am pretty familiar with the process as I am doing the same thing on my third gen although I am no longer using the stock rotors or calipers.
