Two part question. Startup and Door Jammed

Hey i jsut got a new battery for my car. Its been sitting for a while.

q1. When i first go to start the car it cranks for like 10 seconds before it starts up. Is there a reason why its doing this.

Q2. My driver side door does not open. From the inside or outside . it feels as if the lock/cyclinder got stuck between both positions. Now my question is how can i take off the door panel while still sitting in the car becuase i cant open teh door to access it better.

The car is a 1987 GXL.

Thanks

Have you tried lifting up on the door while pulling the handle. That is what I have to do until I can adjust it.

Well Mine just started doing it on the drivers side. Like it just slipped enough for it to catch. If you didnt have to pull the fender to fix it I would have already.

Had somethign like this happen to me before. You will be able to pry the top left open far enough so that you can get to the rods that actuate the door latch. If you cant pry it open. You should be able to carefully remove the top molding part of the door panel. It is tricky but doable.
