The twins will make that power @ 14ish PSI and have about 12PSI @ ~2500 rpms. No comparision in my book. I also auto-x.
Try 407whp at 18psi. Stock port FD engine. And not spool by 3500, but 15 psi by 3500.

Jim Kutschke, ask him. That car is fast as ****....all I did was paint it and go for a ride

Nah, according to some PFC logs I've seen it only makes about 10psi by 2650

10 PSI off a GT 35R is allot more power than 10 or even 15 PSI on a single FD twin. And thats what you would be on at 2500 RPM, a single turbo.

FWIW the guy I'm referencing is friend of mine. Painted his car, he knows loads about rotaries and in particular FD's.

He's been through more sets of twins then I've had FC's and he finally ditched them for a 35R. Said he couldn't be happier....he thinks he's lost about 500ish rpm down low on spool/pull vs. the twins.....and thats it. He's had the same single setup for close to three (I'd have to ask but I know its gone two seasons) years now without touching a thing after it was setup/tuned.

Just sayin' But to each his own, good luck TT

Every car is different, every port, every turbo. This is not going on a stock port REW either.

No one is going to talk me into a GT35R, no way no how....

of coures not, you've invested to much of your time and money into an inferior setup

for me not having to put everything back together every 2 years, or risk getting my car towed because a cop knows what it looks like under the hood of an Rx7 is enough of a reason.

It will also be about the same price, I'm not doing anything crazy like motec. BNR twins are one 2400. You can't get a nice GT 35R setup for much less than that not with a good manifold anyways.

Everything needed to make my running 13B-re FC into a running smog legal 13b-rew (well it looks like an REW) was about 1K

That's purely a matter of opinion & circumstance. When finished I dare say I'll destroy a GT35R on the auto-x track (same port, same car, same suspension). Plus singles are boring and I would hate to invest so much time and money and hardwork and love, blood, sweat & tears (forget the $$ becuase I'd do a Motec even if I was going Single) and have some stupid little punk kid walk up, point and say, I have the same turbo. I'd want to cut my own nuts off. Twins will kickass, mark my words. If I drive far enough south for your SS10 BBQ, I'll show ya

Slo - I think Hondahater is hung up on the price tag for the Motec. I'd do a Motec anyway though so I consider it a moot point. Take the $$ factor out in my eyes a properly set up BNR package will make the GT35R look like a lil' toy. But, that's just my opinion. I kinda like the whole linear torque curve thing

I'd like to see it myself?
Got a dyno graph that shows this?

Oh, BTW, more boost does not necessarily mean power...

lol, if your done in time for ss10 I'll buy you your first 12 pack

you have to be the only guy in the world that thinks a nice single turbo rx7 is boring. Have you tried it?

On an N/A block it would be a pain in the ***... unless you get the turbo intake manifolds and read this whole thread http://forum.teamfc3s.org/showthread.php?t=37694 ... and then decide if you want to go through the trouble, because the fd twins will probably not fit if you have to run an exhaust spacer to clear the N/A LIM. If you want to do this start reading up, and planning. And you probably won't be able to get the sequential system to work well... which is why all kinds of FD owners drop the twin setup in the first place

Here ya go Ted. STOCK NON-sequential FD twins. Still looking for some sequential stuff

I dare say that is alot smoother than a GT35R. In talking with Bryan, his stage 3's just bump everything up higher and shift it up the RPM range slightly.

Check out this thread in the 3rd Gen Section. I am well aware that more boost doesn't necessarily mean more power. I think it's interesting though that people rank on the twins when they CAN make just about the same amout of power as a GT35R. Of course alot has to do with the tune/conditions though. All this comparing back and forth needs to be taken with a grain of salt. I don't think anyone has been on the dyno to get a number, then swap turbos on the same day, with the same tuner, and the same engine to get a new number that would be worthy of a true comparision.

Hondahater.... that's if I drive that far south. From CT to Phoenix passing through I-10 ain't exactely a strait shot. But there is still 4 months and alot can happen. But I assure you, it won't be my first 12 pack I don't think that a single is boring from a driving point. I think it's mundane from a hobby point. I enjoy fabricating and making **** fit that isn't supposed to fit.... like this for example... Note the flange in the left in the first pic re-appears in the third

I enjoy doing one off pieces and taking pride in not being a sheep. That's why I say a GT35R is boring. Most people that I have asked about this project have said, "just slap on a GT35R and be done with it." *YAWN*

Jizneremie33 - All kinds of FD owners drop the twins for a variety of reasons. Troubleshooting them is a pain in the ***. Here is the short list of **** that can go wrong
1) Solenoids fail
2) Vac lines Crack
3) Check valves leak
4) Vac lines blow off
5) Vac chambers leak
6) Pressure chambers leak
7) Actuators stick
8) Wires become corroded
9) The best was I heard that a solenoid passed a test, but then was put in a toaster and failed the test, then passed when cooled... as in it was subjected to the same type of heat it would get under the hood, under the UIM.... hmmmmm

So I consider that insufficient trouble shooting.

They also swap for more power. I am not denying the fact that more power can be had with a single. But I doubt more NET power can be had and certainly as smooth as a properly running set of twins. I have every intention of proving
you probably won't be able to get the sequential system to work well
that statment wrong. Time will tell though.

I hope you do... because then I would probably be swayed to go twin turbo.

Hmmm, yeah, non-sequential converted...
But I thought you wanted to keep the sequential system?

I do, I am doing everything in my power to do so. I haven't found any stock sequential posted graphs. Admittadely didn't look all that hard though. 402 RWHP is nothing to laugh about though. What the sequentials give-up up high, I think they more than make up for down low. I dunno, I hope to be on an engine dyno by late July and a chassis dyno mid August. Then we can have a great debate/flamewar on drivetrain loss

Even if the cost was ~$10,000?

Of course that includes rebuild, port, etc etc... Basically everything

They fit fine in my car, with a nice set of FD manifolds.

If you want a much much better much easier way to go about installing the twins PM me, I could sell you a set of 13b-re irons/lim/uim/TB/aluminum intake hat at a good price.

I'll even tell you exactly how to make the passenger side mount adapter required to clear the twins and mount like stock

who me? I'm already past that point. I'm taking the motor out to get up to my Motec guy Saturday so we can talk sensors and harnesses and such

Easiest way is to buy the Banzai mounts and trim a little out

So I've done a heap of searching in the 3rd Gen dyno section.... Actually I've read everypost. Interesting reading. Everything from high 300's as in 380+ stockers to sub 300 To4's. Some with massive spikes on the transition, others in full sequential. Again, take everything with a grain of salt. I will say that I'll be disapointed if I don't crack 350 to the wheels. 380 would be nicer, 400 I think would be a miracle. Still more responsive than a single though. That's the key for me which is why I'm going twin
