Twin-scroll solenoid help
Twin-scroll solenoid help
I have removed the "rats nest" out of a 87 T2. By following a diagram I found in the forum, it says that the "twin-scroll solenoid" should not be removed.
Questions:
1. Do I really need this solenoid or can I do without it (cap it)?
because
2. My "green" solenoid plug (twin=scroll) is for 3 wires. All the solenoids are 2
prong. So none fit. What am I missing????
Thanks

The car and engine are both series 4.
Yes...the green connector which is a smaller connector compared to the others has 3 sockets, all others (blue, orange, white, etc) are 2 connectors. All solenoids are 2 prong.
If I don't need it....no big deal. I just don't know what the consecuences would be if I cap it.

if you cap it is you will just lose the twin scroll system. not a huge deal, it helps spool the tubo quicker but it will not harm anything by leaving it disconnected.
what hailers is getting at is you should have a green 2 prong connector somewhere(if it is in fact green, i can't remember off the top od my head).

If you have a TURBO EMISSIONS harness, then there should have been a Green, two socket plug. It should have two wires in it. One would be Black with a White stripe. The other wire a Blue wire with a Black stripe.
Only a non turbo emissions harness would not have the Green two socket plug.
The twin scroll actuator is spring loaded to the wideopen position, so you'll just lose a touch on the spool up time. You wouldn't have to do squat to it if you don't use the solenoid.
