Turn signal switch installation

Hi all,

i've had an issue with my metering hood. basically all the fixation tab (either with the car body or the switches) are broken (either split or cut off).
I took it appart. For information, this was my second hood, that i bought used.
I took back my original hood (that is now in slightly better shape) and finished fixing it.
Now the fun thing is that my switches are not in a good shape too. in particular the turn signal switch dont has the mounting tabs anymore.
So i was working on it to redo the tabs and wanted to put it in place to have a visualisation off it should looks like in the end.

But i can't put it back. it seems that the switch hit a little rib of the metering hood before sitting on the mounting tabs.
I can't really take a picture as it's not very visible. Am i doing something wrong ?

My rx7 is a s5 coupe turbo.

Hi, thank for your help (sorry for the delay, i had the notifications in my spams)

For clarification i made plenty of picture.
First thing, i didnt mention it, my car is left hand drive.
so this is how look my hood from the inside:

so the location of the turn signal switch is on the right of the picture.
as you can see one of the insert is the original, the other (closest to the steering column) is the one that i fixed (white plastic).

here is a closeup

the red arrow point the tab, that i suppose set the depth of the switch.

same thing looking from the side

here are pictures of my switch

red arrow is were the tab in the metering hood left its mark on the switch.
blue arrows show the position of the mounting tabs (snapped off a long time ago.

now, here is a picture of how the turn signal looks when i install it

according to your picture, it seems to be close to what it should be.

same thing looking from the side

not perfectly clear, but the switch seems to be in contact with the tab correctly.

now a picture from the back

here you can see how the switch mounting tab is compared to the remaining original insert

i think the gap looks bigger than it really is. The remains ot the switch mounting tab is very thin, i suppose the original one should be 3mm thick at least, so the gap would be almost non existing.

but the big issue i believe is on the one that i tried to fix

i can't take the picture with the correct angle, but on the side the remains of the switch mounting tab is enough to figure the thickness of it.
Still there is around 5mm gap between the top of my "reworked" insert and the supposed switch mounting tab.

So...
Either i'm really stupid and i don't understand how the swith should go in the hood (still, highly probable).
Or my fixed insert is too short.
Out of the two hoods that i have, both inserts have been snapped, so i have no reference for its correct height.
I tried to used the marks on the hood of damaged plastics to figure it, but i was probably wrong.

Would somebody be able to give a dimension for the height of the insert ? for example a dimension between the top of the insert and the top of the kind of seal or boot next to it ? (the one above the steering column ?
Also i'm looking for pictures and maybe dimension of the switch looking from the side, to see the thickness of the mounting tabs, their location and maybe their angle (it looks to me that they are not perpendicular to the switch body).

Sorry for the long post, i tried to be as clear as possible (and english is not my natural language).
Thanks if you read everything.
