TURBOING A na rotary

Aight. I only ever had one other rex. (88 gxl) now i have a 91 N/A . and the guy i got it from gave me a complete turbo set up minus down pipe.its the 13b. And i dont know much about rotary's but can u just put a turbo on a n/a motor? is there a difference between the 13b N/a motors and the 13b turbo motors? and will it be safe to be like and everyday driver?Oh it has a weak water jacket, it smokes white till it warms up then goes away, never over heats or anything. how hard and how much $$ is it to fix that?thanks alot. Ill learn alot from you Peoples. later on josh

Ok. My first word of advice to you, is to scroll to the top of this screen, and click "Search". This topic is covered daily, seriously.

But to answer you're questions..

It is basically a "bolt-on" deal. There are a few things you need to do for it to be able to work (find a coolant source, for one), but it DOES bolt right onto the NA block.

The NA engine is higher compression then the turbo engine. Without proper tuning, a turbo'd high compression engine is much less reliable than a low compression one. Higher compression helps with spool, and requires less boost to make the same horsepower.

About the white smoke..you're going to want to rebuild the engine :\

Kevin Landers can do it cheap, if you don't want to try to do it yourself. He does quality work :P

Hope I helped...SEARCH!
