for TurboII's how many miles before it blows
Well i was just looking at that one dudes thread and I was wondering about the same with the turbo ones. How many miles before the engine blows? and when is the best time to rebuild the engine?

There is not specific mileage where the engine just goes.
But, the general consensus is that at 100k miles a TII engine is getting tired.
Mine lasted longer, others lasted less.
The best time to rebuild is when you start noticing a drop-off in compression/power etc. Do a test every now and then.
When the engine starts getting tired, re-build it before it chucks a seal into your turbo...

Nothing to see here.
Just went through a rebuild on a '91 TII. Picked it up with 87k miles on the odometer. Compression test was 95s all around. As I've been reminded, better to rebuild before you damage the housings with broken apex seals?will save you the cost of new/used housings.

Its all in the maitenence also, if you really baby your car itll last very long, dont let em sit for too long, try not to boost too much as forced induction is one major wear on the engine. Ive seen TII's reach the 200k mark cuz of the good owners and their great care of the car. And besides as long as you dont blow a seal and damage somthing, a rebuild is really worth it cuz then you got a virually new engine, plenty of power mods to choose from and in the end youll end up with more hp and have it for a long time. But it all depends on the rebuild...

It all depends on how you treat her, make sure she has adequate fuel supply, cold engough air not to detenate, tune up regularly, if you want a TII to last I'd recommend getting a walbro fuel pump b4 you get intake and exhaust, then get an SAFC and go to a dyno or use a wideband O2 sensor to tune it, any car will last a long long time it just has to be running correctly!!!!......btw rich is better than lean

190k = 119k miles.
Mine blew at 87,832KM. That's about 50k miles.
But, it had sat for 2-3 years and the previous owner said "and I've never had this engine above 3000, I don't know why it blew!" so that might have had a bit to do with it, the inside looked pretty nasty

Mine went 130k miles. It was leaned out and chewed up all the seals on the rear rotor. The front one still looked in decent condition. The car would start on its own and idle after it blew.

Mine has 152k miles with just about the same mods as the 189k guy but I have a fmic and paralel fuel rail mod.
It pushed 75 psi on each rotor on a standard comp guage with the valve removed. With the valve in the front hit 105 and the rear hit 100.
