TurboII Wiring harnesses
Ok, question, are there (major) differences between the following wiring harnesses:
pre-'88 A-spec TurboII
'88+ A-spec TurboII
pre-'88 J-spec TurboII
'88+ J-spec TurboII
Or are they all the same? Reason I ask is because the wiring harnesses that come with J-spec engines are usually cut from what I hear.

Banned. I got OWNED!!!
As far as differences in jspec and aspec I couldnt say for sure, never seen one. I would imagine there are a couple less plugs on the jspec...cold start assist bottle, and the couple of emissions differences. Nothing that would keep you from running one, but like you said, theyre usually cut.
There are actually 3 harnesses for t2...
most 87s had the injector resistor pack, and were set up to run on low impedance injectors with the large injector plugs.
most 88s went to higher resistance injectors with no resistor pack or plug in the harness, and also used the large plug injectors.
89+ cars were all teh same, with no resistors, high impedance injectors with small plugs.
You want ot run the injector/wiring harness combo that goes with your car if possible, but you can modify your injectors and/or harness to run any combination of the above if necessary. You just have to maintain the same impedance to the ecu.
Any further questions you can ask me.

thanks, now I know it's even harder than I thought maybe I can do custom wiring, shouldn't be THAT hard to do (won't wire in any emissions).. we'll see

J-Spec is pretty similar, although all the ones I've seen have been cut to pieces.
The A-spec ones are divided in mid-87. The pre-mid87 ones have the fuel injector resistor circuit plug; tje later mid87 harness do not come with this plug.  The fuel injector plugs are different too due to the notch being on the side or centered.
You can use a pre-mid87 harness for a later-mid87 vehicle by jumping that plug.
If you try and use the later-mid87 harness on an pre-mid87 vehicle, you'll need to install 10ohm resistors on each fuel injector circuit.
...or use the appropriate impedence fuel injectors for each harness.
