turboII rear end
turboII rear end
a guy i was talking to about getting an exhaust for my '86. he said he will sell me an '89 turboII rearend and a custom driveshaft so that the rearend will b able to mate my n/a trans to the tuboII rearend. my question is, is there really a difference in the gearing of the rearends and do i really need a custom driveshaft to mate the two up?
The TII rear end is stronger and has a larger pinion and setup the whole pumpkin is beefier. The half shafts will need to be changed to TII half shafts and yes the TII drive shaft is larger in girth and the rear yoke flange is larger.
The 87 to 88 TII used a LSD diff all 4:10 gears and the 89 to 91 is a viscose "however you spell it" style rear end and still used 4:10 gears as did all 5speed FCs “I do not know auto is why I classified 5 speed” outside of the NA GTUs. Unless you running a P port NA or a turbo setup the NA diff is plenty. I am / was running the NA LSD on my TII swap at 11/12psi with no problems.

ok, so i need to get the halfshafts from him, also, in addition to the rearend and the custom driveshaft. so how would the turboII rearend affect the acceleration and possible drifting action?
