turbo2 vs. gtu

for a autox/track car which would you recommend? a gtu or a turbo 2?

i know that the turbo 2 has a stronger driveline and a turbo, and im not worried about the extra luxury stuff (it would be removed)

is the turbo 2 worth the extra money for the drivetrain and turbo or should i just go with the less expensive gtu?

I've had an '88 base model that I converted to full T-II driveline and suspension. I also have an '88 T-II. I think the debate many people use about how an n/a is a better auto-x car is crap. From my standpoint the T-II is a better car. My T-II also has antilock brakes. Not all of them do.

The difference in weight between the 2 cars is not enough for you to notice on the track. I don't care who says what. There are people that take out the passenger seat just to save that extra weight. Why bother? The real issue is how well YOU can drive. My friend Chad owned my T-II before me. I auto-x'ed my n/a in the same event he did and our times were consistently less than a 10th of a second off from each others with him always beating me out slightly. His car could handle and brake so much better though. It was driver differences that made the biggest difference not car.

Both cars are RX-7's and they are close enough to each other in weight for it to not be an issue. Ultimately neither will have any usable advantage over the other other than the power difference. Even then you have to get into the issue of lag.

I say get a T-II. You've only got about 5 or 6 minutes of autocross time a month but you can still enjoy a faster car the rest of the time.

Get a TII, you won't regret it. If you're just going for an autoX car, a GTU will do just about as good as a TII. For drag racing, the TII will blow the GTU out of the water.

dude it doesn't really matter. i'd say 90% of autocrossing is driver 10% car. there is a guy up here who runs a early 90's subaru legacy wagon who beats poorshez(that is tuff to spell) because he is such a good driver. i can only reccomend one thing for autocross and that is seat time. but if it were my chose it would be the turbo because if the track is fast the turbo will really pay off.

porsches ... thats not hard to spell at all.
chose = choice
reccomend = recommend

I dont mean to try and dig on you, but it boggles my mind how some people made it through the 4th grade.

I'd go with a TII. Faster on straightaways, and more room for improovements as far as modding goes. To get an NA up to TII speeds on straightaways, you would have to do lots of modding to get close, and with a TII, just exhaust and fuel mods can get you a whole lot of extra power.
