Is a turbo transmission longer or shorter? And can it fit in a GTU?

A trans from a GXL will fit a GTU. Did you test it with the pedal hooked up?
Get pics if possible.
Sorry about the CAPS. I work with AutoCAD all day and I"m kinda used to it.

And no, I have not tried hooking it up yet. Its about 1" to 1 1/2" to far from the fork.
I have an expert coming Sat. to look at it to see if I have the right tranny on.
Says he'll trade his gxl tranny for my "T-II"
-Thanks

^don't do it. get money!

I gave NA tranny's away. TII tranny's are worth cash! Depending on market/demand. $150-500 a piece

This is because you're traying to use an N/A slave on a TII transmission.

No need for the expert, I can tell you right now you've installed the wrong transmission and to be quite honest, I don't know how you actually managed to cram it into the N/A friction plate. Its quite possible you've damaged a few components such as the clutch and pilot bearing while doing this.

Take the tranny out, inspect for damage, buy the right transmission, re-install, drive, smile.

OK. I figured out it was not a turbo II tranny. I compared mine to some pics off of Ebay & stuff. WAY DIFFERENT.
Anyways, since it was out I was still trying to figure out why the fork didnt wanna bubge at all. So, I replace the fork with the original tranny I had in the car. I just put it back in myself and guess what...THE SAME PROBLEM. The fork doesnt budge.

I'm ready to torch this thing!

My hand. It just won't budge at all.
It did about 1" before I started pushing the tranny in. Then, when I started to bolt it up the fork just stopped moving at all.

Yes, I am 100% sure.

You can push the slave cylinder back with the metal connecting piece in order to give it room. Its easier to unbolt the bleeder valve a bit and push, you will need to then bleed the clutch after you install it.

The fork is pushing on the release bearing which is pushing on the clutch fingers.

It's fine to be a noob, but make sure you are as clear as possible when you describe something and listen to advice. I think 3 people told you that you cannot push the fork when the transmission is installed.

You can buy a tap to match the holes and tap them. This will thread it with new threads.

Be careful though, ensure you tap straight and whatever you do do not break the tap. The goal is to go a little bit in, out, a little more in, out...

ok, good news and bad news. I put the tranny and works but when i drive it in 3rd gear it feels like its doesn't "GO" if you catch my drift. Same goes for the 4th gear.
I haven't gotten a chance to use 5th because the stickers were expired when i bought it. and can only drive it around my small neighborhood.

what could be my problem? please help. thanks farberio
