Turbo Transmission Guru Required

So, I just dug into my unknown year TII trans and found a few tired items.
I plan to rebuild the trans but I cannot for the life of me figure out which parts to order. I am usually pretty good with the factory parts list but for FC there are numerous p/n's for each piece I would like to replace.

I am wondering if they are just slight revisions or if I require the exact parts specific to my transmission.

The parts I would like to replace along with part numbers are:

3-4 Hub Sleeve

R501-17-242
R502-17-242 (C,D)
R504-17-242

5-R Hub Sleeve

F401-17-242A
R501-17-622

3-4 Shift fork

R503-17-406A
R504-17-404B
R501-17-404B

I would consider purchasing the full hub sets if this would simplify things, but I get multiple part #s for those as well, and it doesn't help me with the fork.

Any assistance would be appreciated!

I suspect it is an S4, as there is no counterweight on the output shaft.

ok so the current part number for the 3/4 sleeve is R504-17-242

the 3/4 fork is R501-17-404C

the 5/r sleeve is the tricky one, as there are two. R501-17-622 and F401-17-242A. the F401 is for the early (before 1/11/86) transmissions. the R501 is 1/11/86 and later.

the S5 uses the same 3/4 sleeve, and fork, and the same R501-17-622 as the late S4 trans.

Thanks!!
May I ask how you found the shift fork p/n?

Also, any idea if there is a way to visibly identify the difference?

Cheers,
Alex

i looked it up in the parts catalog, and then went to the availability screen in the dealership website.

the early trans had a different 5th gear synchro, and hub (at least), not sure how to ID, but there have been a couple threads on it, and the early synchro is a dealer only part, and the late one is also available aftermarket

I'm needing to rebuild my S4 TII transmission as well, due to a bad 2nd gear syncro. I'm wondering what guidance you guys used as far as manuals, directions, illustrations, directions on how to tear down and rebuild the transmission, and what tips you guys could provide.

Thx in advance!

you will need special pullers, it is not something anyone with basic tools can accomplish easily without various+modified jaw pullers, bearing splitter and press.
