turbo tranny in GTU
i have a 1988 rx-7 GTU 5 speed. obviously it is an n/a, but here's the deal. i can get a turbo II tranny from any year second gen, but i need to know if it will fit.
after doing a little research, it seems like i may have some difficulty matching up to the flywheel. it also seems like it shouldn't be a problem mounting to the limited slip rear of the GTU.
i need help ASAP! thanks in advance.

It will fit, but it is NOT a direct bolt-on. You will need to get the T2 starter, flywheel, and automatic counterweight(I've heard). You will also need to either modify your Driveshaft, or get a T2 driveshaft(in which case you will also need the T2 differential) There is something I'm forgetting, but I can't think of it off-hand.

Rear Counter weight is built into the flywheel and has to do with the engine, NOT the tranny. I believe the TII has a different spline for the clutch disc. I also believe the clutch disc is larger than for an NA and will thus require you go to the larger flywheel.
Therefore, if the conversion will work otherwise, you'll need to abandon the stock flywheel and go with a separate counter weight to match your NA engine and aftermarket flywheel large enough to deal with the larger clutch disc that fits the TII spline. Racing Beats sells their lighten flywheel and proper counter weight in combination.
I'd call Racing Beat or Nick at Rotary Reliability and tell them what your trying to do and let them educate yah.
