door open light

On my 88 T2 the dash light that tells you that the doors are open always stays on. Any Ideas?
And yes, the doors are closed.

Thanks,
Mike

Check to see if your dome light switch is set to turn on the dome when a door is open.

If it is and no light, pull the bulb and check for continuity with either an ohm meter or circuit tester to make sure the bulb is good.

If the bulb is good, then I'm stumped. System is set up so the hot (+) side goes directly to the bulb and the door switch's simply provide the ground (- side) when open. It is this grounding that signals the dash light that a door is open.

My guess is one of your door switch's is broken or the wire connection to the switch is disconnected . One of the two is grounding regardless if the door is open. But your dome light either is turned off or not working explaining why only the dash warning light is lighting up.

check the boot locks, mine was doing this and it was a connection on the boot, although my car is confused, when the doors are open it says the boot and doors are open and when the boot is open it says the doors are open, and my clock wont go if the interior lights are on or if the doors are open.....its a very confused car.

Shadow, you might want to translate "boot" from Kiwi to Yankee talk.

I'm impressed. You work for Jaguar and your drive a RX-7. A true rotor head indeed.

I believe it's the door AJAR light, just kidding. Anyway, the same thing happens to me when i have my dome light switch to the left, instead of in the middle, i don't know what the different positions mean because i keep it in the middle and the dome light is always kind of finiky anyway. I don't know if this helps you, because i don't know WHY it's on when the switch is in that position. Just thought i'd let you know that i selectively have this problem too. So basically I agree with Hozzman. This was just the LONG version.
