the views here are split. some people say its not needed because our turbos are water cooled instead of oil, while others say its good to have one since the mazda manual reconmends a cool off period of at least 30 secs when drivin hard and some people are too much of a rush to seat the car for a extra 30secs

I recommend a turbo timer just like XBOX said pretty much. If you care about the turbo (and your motor) I dont see how a cool down can hurt it. Its almost like people and exercise. You arent supposed to just stop, you are supposed to do a warm down training too.

You can buy mines. $100 shipped. GReddy Full Auto Timer (harness included). PM me.
PS I would look into a banjo bolt if the PD hasn't been replaced, yet.

That's only required if you want to turn the key immediately after hard driving. All it takes to avoid that is a couple of miles of normal driving before shut-off. How hard is that?

As pretty conclusive proof that turbo timers don't do **** for water-cooled turbos, you only have to consider the fact that the turbo has managed to last this long without one. What difference is adding one now going to make?
