turbo swap dissaster

Recently got my car back from getting J-SPEC turbo swap and now my car runs like crap. The mechanic who installed it didnt know what he was doing odviously cause the car runs like crap. I tried to take it to a mechanic who knows what he is doing and he refused to look at the car cause the wiring harness was a mess. $4000 later and i have a paper wieght.

Stay away from Tuxedo Motorsports.

you are probably money ahead by tossing the hacked up electronics and installing a stand-alone

thats why you dont take it to a mechanic. do the work yourself. if you have to take it to someone else, make sure it's someone you trust with rx-7s.

It works like this. You supply as much info as possible, we supply as much help as possible.

No info = no help.

I’m not sure what type of computer or harness he used. I know he had a problem finding the right harness and went through like 6 different ones. I went from a 87' base model to full turbo swap motor, rearend and front 5 lug conversion. At 5k rpm engine hesitates. Mechanic said its starving for gas. Said also might not be correct mass air flow sensor. Notice the O2 sensor not hooked up and air hose on BAC vale not hooked up. Mechanic said oil not being mixed with the gas so its not hooked up.This much problems is out of my league. Don’t know where to start. Especially when a guy who really knows RX-7 refused to work on the car because don’t want to fix a problem someone else caused. I don’t know how the thing even runs with all these problems.

yeah you are using a 87 and the jspec is most likely a 89+ and thats the problem.

ok you need to check your computer and qrite down the numbers on it. then post it here and we will tell you whether or not you are running the right ecu. if you are running an n/a ecu on a turbo setup your engine will run crappy. Also if you do infact have the proper ECU and you have the wrong AFM that will also cause problems, also if you don't have a boost sensor that will cause all kinds of problems.
To check the ecu you lift the carpet on the passenger side floor right where the floor kind of angles up then there is a metal plate you must remove this metal plate and then you can read the numbers. Then post them here and hopefully we can help you out!
