I was in the process of tearing apart my turbo for a rebuild. On accident / purpose (don't ask) i dinged up my turbo spindle pretty bad (used a rubber mallot trying to get the shaft out after pulling off the compressor wheel). Now the end of the shaft that the compressor wheel goes on is bent to the point that the nut doesn't match the first thread. Does anyone out there have an S5 shaft in decent condition with the turbine(exhaust) side still on it, or a way to fix this problem?

Maybe you could buy a die and try rethreading it before you go out and buy a new shaft.

 

I agree, or find someone selling a cheap turbo set.

I would have done that by now, but I don't know what that does about balancing?
