Turbo rotary vs non turbo rotary...

Is there a difference in the internals of a rotary turbo engine compared to a non turbo rotary? Just wondering if i need to do any internal stuff to the apex seals or the housing to turbo a rotary. Like in piston engines they forged the internals...

The only non-turbo rotary that came out, is before the 3rd gen. The apex seals are little stronger, along with other seals.

Also the ports are very different in size. The 13b has 5th/6th ports, also known as secondary ports, which come into play at a certain rpm simliar to the seq. turbos of the 3rd gen.

I'm little confused on why you would be asking this in the 3rd gen. forums...as I read your post again, I can tell you are do not know much about the rotary...
Word of advice, dont turbo a non-turbo rotary, not many pple have done it.

Now here comes the fun part. you need to go read some threads and search for any questions you have. Theres so much info on this forum its crazy. So off you go!

I highly doubt a stock, or mildy modified 944 turbo could "smoke" a FD or Turbo II. Just because its 1.3 liters doesn't mean its slow. Next time you ask a question that can be answered by searching or reading the FAQ section of the forum and no one flames you, be a little more considerate. At least the guys have a little patience and were more than willing to help answer your question rather than just call you an idiot and say to use the search key.......

no its not the size its the numbers...and by the way cdsOObsmg, you really need to know what you are talking aabout before you open your mouth. A stock turbo would kill a FC any a turbo 2 whatever. Mine on the other hand woul smoke a highly modified gen 3. just go look at lindseyracing.com to check the products k? And read up a little. i have 385 horse to the wheels bro got the dynoi to prove it

a 951 certinally isnt a bulletproof engine, bro...go wear down the timing chain tensioner and loose the whole engine. im doubting you even own a 944 for the simple fact that your as ignorant as a 15yr old honda lover. and im sure there are some nice fd and tii guys that will smoke your overweight, overpriced, and overengineered luxury cruiser on the track and in a straight line.

oh yes i forgot, since the whole 924/944/968 line was dropped never to return atleast our engines are still made and atleast mazda still supports the rx7 and unlike the 924/944/968 the rx7 is regarded as the best car mazda built and respected by anyone who goes to a 1/4 mile track or an autocross event...whereas your precious car is looked down upon by true porsche owners who know their engines belong behind them.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Modifying the hell out of either car will yield impressive results, thats given. However, how much more will you spend making your porsche fast though? IMO I wouldn't bother purchasing a porsche, when I could spend a lot less and perform as well, if not better than a porsche. I don't think the porsche is junk, or less impressive, its just now what I'm into at this point. Its not always about the name, some people have to go with what is affordable, or just what they are interested in, or whatever the reason. I think its great you have a dyno proven 944 turbo, if thats what you like, then great. If you have an interest in rotary powered cars, than thats great too. Do you have a RX-7, or are you looking to get one? I'm sure if you get one, you will see it is a respectable car, and maybe one that you will be content with, whatever floats your boat.....

man i hate when people with pics of rx7 on there name dont even own one or give them any respect. for one a mildly modified FD with jus intake exaust and some other small things too free up the power has well over 300hp and is light as hell and the 9 serieses from porsche especially the road versions are somtimes a little chunky its power to weight not jus power otherwise we would all be Driven some old school muscle car (other than they handle like like trash and thats why alot of us like the FC for the handling the best handling of the three generations of the sevens)

finally a nice rx-7 owner...cdsOObsmg thanks
so...sjsuper7...that was quite the good come back but you are incorrect on your facts there...timing chain how about an engine fire bro...my car weights just as much as yours wiht nicer interior, styling and performance, true rotay engines are light but the mazda body isnt, also the reason that 944s are looked down at are because they are cheaper to mod, maintane ... and i can smoke a 911 so there is their other reason to hate me...also mine handles better thatn a 911 whos back end swings out on every turn.,..and if i saw a fc at a track and it was stock i woould laugh at it and tell it to go home

they stopped maing RX-7s in 2002

they stopped here in the US in 95-96ish because american tuners for the most part didnt know how to tune, plus its cooling systems werent that good.
