Turbo rear end or not???

I have a rear end from a wrecking yard that is marked as a 87 turbo rear end, but the driveshaft that I thought was turbo doesn't line up. I don't know for certain that the driveshaft is a turbo driveshaft, so is there any way I can identify if it is a turbo rear end or not? The half shafts or any physical markings or shapes? Thanks.

The turbo trans/ differential pumpkin are beefier & are ribbed for her pleasure.
The TII bolt patterns are also larger. IS the car 5-lug? If it is, it's more likely to have a TII one,
through a conversion CAN be done.

It is 5 lug. I at least knew that much. I will go take a couple pictures and maybe that will help.

Here are some pictures. Ignore the wheel, I know that isn't a turbo wheel, it is just what I have on one end.

The turbo one is like, dimensionaly biggerm, and at least the trans DOES in fact have more ribs.

Also, look at the pic posted, the front of it is different.

i guess first thing would be to make sure it is a LSD. I have a TII rearend sitting out in the garage, i can get measurements and pictures if you'd like something for comparison

Anything would help. I believe the half shafts are supposed to be different, but I don't know if it is the length, splines, or diameter.

Center to center on the bolt holes is 2.75 measured with a tape measure. Does anyone know what the differences are there for turbo and na?

if you compare the two pics of the cover, look at the ribbings. the turbo has more ribbing from the drain plug to the axle, the NA has one less ribbing and are more further spaced apart.

Thanks for the help everyone. It must not be turbo, because I got it up on jack stands and spun one wheel. The other wheel moved in the opposite direction. My understanding is that alone lets me know it isn't a LSD and therefore not a turbo rearend. Oh well. The search continues.

The rear end in your pictures is a non turbo S4 LSD rear end, probably from an 88.

If the other wheel moved the opposite direction, the clutch pack is probably worn out.

Since this topic is about FC differentials I figure ill ask here instead of making a new topic.

Does the S5 convertibles come with a open or limited slip rear end? Its an A-Spec car with n/a engine. Im going to look at it for a second 7 this coming week and wasn't sure.
