turbo question for my noob friend

i had a question about my friends car. he has about the same setup as i do. rtek 2.0, fmic, exhaust, warlbro fp, etc. he put a t61 on his car a bit ago and at 10 psi the car felt like i wasnt spooling. we did a 1st 2nd and a 3rd gear pull. it hit 10 psi but it didnt feel like it pulled. obviously i know the turbo was too big (i told him this numorous times, lol) but ive seen people run t66's and bigger and im sure they pull by the end of 2nd. im still learning about turbo sizing, so the question is what makes a turbo like this one take so long to spool? weight & size of wheels? the specs that i got from him are .84 AR comp side and .96 AR undivided exhaust side.

I'm surpised the car hasn't blown up.

My money is on...that "T61" is not a real T61, and it's something smaller.

lol, i know but that dumbass wont listen. what i meant was that it hit 10 psi and it felt like almost an n/a. it started to pull alittle at 6k but my to4b on my car pulls wayyyy more at the same rpm. its big, it looks like a t61. the first numbers on the serial say t61??? not a definite but thats why i figured it was.

Chances are his tune is non-existent.

But there's no way that at 10 pounds it feels like an N/A..even with a game boy tune. Unless his boost gauge is whacked.

But I still don't understand what exactly you're asking, and why its even 2nd gen specific?

if its running lean, it can make the turbo spool slow, feel slow, blow stuff up...

Rtec isn't enough + the walbro isn't what I would suggest for a pump with that necessary output. I would assume larger injectors? I am assuming its lean from the sounds of it. I could be wrong.

I'm not sure wether or not the rtek gives you boost control capabilities, but you really need to consider gettting an after market boost controller.... like now.... before it blows up.....Also, you need bigger fuel injectors; your car is getting a crap-ton more air, without the necessary fuel to compensate for proper combustion.... you are running lean, and that can cause detonation.

Let me ask you a question. What is an aftermarket boost controller going to do for him at this point? Nothing what he needs is some bigger injectors and a real EMS. This setup he's running is a time bomb waiting to explode.

Not too mention, if it was a real T-61, 10 PSI isnt even in the efficiency range yet.

A real T-61 should pull pretty decent at 10psi.
That turbo is good for 450 at the wheel easy and can possibly put out 500hp potentially.

There's something wrong with the whole set-up...

The turbine A/R isn't overly big, so I have no clue what's wrong.
I still say the turbo isn't a real T-61.
A real T-61 does not have a tag that says it's a T-61 - that's a big clue there!
SSautoCrap turbo???
