Turbo II TII Steel Hood There is such a thing!

In Japan there are plenty of cars that have steel Turbo II hoods!

I work at Jhot Imports and if you don't know we sell JDM parts which include RX-7 parts.

With that being said please make this common knowledge.

I am sick of people calling me arguing that there isn't such a thing as a "steel Turbo II hood" Maybe not in America but there is such a thing in Japan.

Thanks

-Gabe

Never seen one in person.

Heard many people say it....but never seen it.
2slw4u do you have pics of the hood? mostly around the hood catch area?

I thought this pretty much was common knowledge. There are North American market turbos with steel hoods, and NA's that came with aluminum (besides convertibles and the rare GTUs's that were supposed to have them). The explanation I have heard, is that these cars were not built continuously on a dedicated production line, since they were relatively low production, but instead were built in small runs. As a consequence, the supply chain was also irregular, so if a batch of na coupes were on the line, and they were short of steel hoods, aluminum hoods might be substituted, and similarly for turbo's - short of aluminum that day, cut a few steel hoods for the scoop and throw those on.

Yeah, I can hold my TII hood with one hand and chuck it like a frisbee. I've never done that, but it would be easy to do.

I live fairly close to their denton warehouse, I went with a friend to pick up a infinti seat. I just wanted to comment that the denton warehouse is the cleanest jdm importer ive ever seen.

All the front clips looked cleaner than my engine bay. And they dont try to cash in on every piece of the car like some importer. They had 2 fc front clips and one of them had the old school hks blowoff valve with FCON and a turbo timer. Buying a front clip from them is almost guaranteed to come with a piggy back and turbo timer. Also they all have H4 converison head lights.

I just wanted to share my experience with them. I highly recommend buying a used J spec motor from them.

I bought one from www.jdmenginescorp.com and they sold me a blown motor.

Man tell that to the people that call us everyday....

I didn't mean to cause an uproar but I had 3 calls about the same hood for sale and they all tried to tell me there was no such thing as a steel hood...and you know customer service says "the customer is always right" aka don't tell them they are wrong in a direct way so I had to deal with that throughout the day.

"sir/ma'am, I don't know where you are getting your facts but there were many hoods made for the RX7 in japan and for export. Steel hoods are common in the Japanese market and they were rare in the U.S market because the majority we're aluminum. I have a call on the other line on hold asking about the same product so please give me a call back if you're interested and if it's still available."

Most likely they won't call back but you KNEW they weren't going to buy the steel hood so it's not like you lost business.

I'm not into business or customer service because I hate stupid people. I used to work in a place where I had to deal with stupids on the daily and it's frustrating and disappointing.

Yeah, after a while Mazda stopped producing them in aluminum. All the Turbo IIs should have originally came with the aluminum hoods, but if at some point in your cars life they had to put a new hood on it, then it would have been made from steel.
