Turbo II Hood Scoop not centered =O

I noticed a few days ago that the hood scoop on the T2 hood isn't centered...it had always looked slightly off but I thought it was just a trick of the light before.

Does anyone know if there is a purpose to this design, does the hood scoop being more to the left have any sort of effect as opposed to being in the centre?

Yep, the scoop is over the intercooler.

Lol, where's that old thread where that guy thought he got ripped off because the scoop was off center?

It does look better. And you won't have to get a new hood painted if you turbo the car at some point. But in the meantime, you have a fake hood scoop like all the mustangs, tacomas, celicas, etc...

Great spot to mount one of those Knight Rider LED lights...

I keed, I keed!!

When others ask why its there, tell them b/c the engine gets so much hotter than a piston engine.. you've added a cooling duct

Hah. It's alright, my convertible had a TII hood on it for about 7 years before it actually got the engine that used it.

I had heard a rumor that Mazda designed that hood scoop off center to avoid design copyright problems with the similar Subaru hoods, does anyone know if there is any truth to this?

I Doubt it. The intercooler is pushed to the side due to the design of the intake manifold, that's why the hood scoop is off-center.

Then suby-roo would have a lawsuit against any manufacturer with a hood scoop.
