Turbo II for $3000; has leaky injectors
Hi guys,
I've been without a 7 for a year or so and am dying to get back into one. I've found a TII for $3000 with a bent rear control arm (whatever) and leaky injectors.
My questions is about the injectors. Once they've started openly leaking and causing floods is it time for a new set or is it possible to have the old ones reparied?

I would have done a compression check before buying the car.
Although leaky injectors can make a car floor and hard to start, so can low compression from a worn out motor.
If it truely is the injectors leaking, you can send them off to be cleaned or have
them cleaned locally at most diesel shops.
Diesel shops do injector cleaning all the time for big rigs and can usually do Bosch type injectors as well.
I had mine cleaned for about $20 a piece with a 2 day turn around and no shipping hastle.
If you need a temp fix, a switch can be wired into the fuel pump relay to help start the car. That is a $5, 5 minute job but doesnt really fix anything.

Shainiac pretty much nailed it. If it really is leaky injectors, you can fix it pretty easily. You will have to pull of the intake manifold to get to them, but its not too big of a deal, and it lets you replace the probably crumbling vac lines under the intake, and do the TB mod if you are interested.

I'd be very suspicious of the compression unless you've seen a leak-down test done on the fuel system.

Assume I can confirm the compression (engine sounded strong and started easily once the flooding was dealt with). Do we think $3000 is a good deal? It does need some body work; but it's all of the variety that I can do it myself and just leave the primer/paint to the pros.
