Turbo Hot Side Glowing Red?

My hot side of the turbo glows a bright red (seeable at night only). I have 130 miles on a fresh rebuild, have straight through exhaust all the way back. Manifold isnt glowing, center section isnt glowing, only hot side. While driving i did not have the under body panel installed and just installed it. No hard driving, no boost, and no RPMs above 4k rpm. This normal?

Car idle completely rock solid at 900rpm. no vac leaks and car just tweaked by Rotary Performance.

Ever mess with a torch?
Too much gas or not enough O2 & it's colder..

Rich exhaust will heat up a cat, but not a turbo..

I've seen my turbo glowing numerous times after a good hard run.... always thought it was pretty normal.

He said he kept the rpms under 4k. Is it still normal? Inquiring minds want to know.

Is it glowing after city driving or highway driving?

If its city driving under 4k, Id be inclinded to say you have a problem. If its highway driving, Id say its normal.

He's running too rich. Fuel is combusting in the turbo instead of the engine.

This can also be caused by ignition timing being retarted. This is not an odd cocurance after a hard run, but is not normal after a sunday drive. Check your timing.
