turbo hose problem?

Well my car is alot slower that it should be (my TII). I found a hose that comes out of the passenger side rear of the i/c. It leaves the i/c and goes into something that I don't know what it is, but the nipple is broken off into the hose so the air is just going into the engine bay. Any idea what this is and could it be slowing my car down?

so the air is coming out of the IC through that hose into the engine bay?? that would cause the loss of boost!! fix it before you drive too much further.

I guess so, its a small hose coming from the back of the i/c on the passenger side. This could affect performance alot right?

That hose leads to the Air Bypass Solenoid Valve, it's part of the system that increases idle speed under load. That this won't be working is the least of your problems...
Yes, a bloody great hole in the side of your intercooler is going to kill performance! In fact I don't know how it's even idling with a vacuum leak that big. I accidently left this hose off once after setting my TPS and it would not idle at all.

Not to quibble too much with the man from the country that gave us Denny Hulme and Bruce Mclaren, but that hose goes to the air supply valve if its the one that goes to the rear of the engine. The small hose that goes to the right goes to the air bypass solenoid. Picky, picky, picky. Yeah, dumping boost and running lean.

On the crappy S4 vac schematic it looks like the hose that comes off the IC's rear tank goes to the ABSV but it's so cluttered I'm probably just reading it wrong!

BTW, I'm really impressed you know where McLaren and Hulme came from! Kudos to you!
And even though I'm a huge Ferarri fan, I just love seeing that little red kiwi on the McLaren cars!

There are two hoses there, one on top of the other. The one I was referring to is the top one which is only about 4" long and goes into something that I don't know what is(lol) then another hose comes out of that. I fixed it today with some JB weld since someone else used like super glue or something on it and I need to replace the hose, and what ever it is that it goes into.

Atta boy RYDE OR DYE. I convince NZCONVERTIBLE he might be wrong, and sure enough you come along saying it was the upper of the two hoses. Yeah, the top one goes to the right to the airbypass solenoid and the lower goes to the asv. FUDGE, or a word like it. Anyway, everyone knows about Mclaren and Hulme and the REAL CANAM series and their formula one achievements. Even know about that guy named Sir Jack Brabham from one of your provinces of New Zealand. Province of Australia I believe. Or are they a colony? Anyway, NZ was right.
