No, because you're not trying to make your car look like it's something it's not.

the turbo II hood scoop is only moderately functional even on actual turbo II's to begin with.
BS.

Alluminum N/A hoods are lighter than T2 hoods.
Steel N/A hoods are signifigantly heavier.

Jeez...

All steel FC hoods weigh about the same.

All aluminium FC hoods weigh about the same.

The scoop makes SFA difference.

aluminum hoods are nice, thats what i have. if i were going to go with a hood with a hole in the top of it, i would get a vented one that would increase cooling in the engine bay.

The flaw in your theory is that you are assuming the hood swap is done because ppl want to make their cars look turbo'd. I have a TII hood on my GXL and that is NOT the reason I put it on. I swapped it because the stock steel hood was BORING and the TII looks A LOT better. Even my wife said it makes the car look a lot better and she doesn't even really like the car (says it looks "80's night rider'ish"). The difference in the TII hood and a giant wing on the back of your car is that the hood is a OEM part for a different model of the same car and looks good on the car; the wing is aftermarket, normally doesn't match the car, most of them are mounted very poorly, and they generally look completely tasteless.

So, if you want to tell me how tasteless the TII hood looks... that's just a difference in taste. It's not like he or I are putting TII stickers on our fenders and heading out to streetrace some deusche in a camry with a wing. I don't want people to think my car is a TII. I don't really want some stupid punk trying to race me down I-40 while I'm out enjoying a nice drive, but the hood looks good and that's that.

BTW... I also put S5 TII mirrors on my car because they are painted body color and again, look A LOT better than the old faded black stock mirrors. I guess that's rice too...

Right on. H Hater.

Most of these T2 Hood on NA fewls don't even paint the damn thing. Reminds me of some hillbilly driving a pickup with one green door, one brown door, and a primered hood or something.

The T2 hood is pretty ugly anyway and messes with the lines of the car - might as well install that park bench spoiler on the back or some goofy *** Kombat Kitana Body Kit or something. The only redeeming quality of the T2 hood is that it is functional for the TMIC. Otherwise its just a hideous hole.

My car is a turbo vert. During the conversion I bought a turbo hood and dreaded installing the hideous thing. I elected to go front mount at any cost and sold the T2 hood. That piece of **** T2 hood never touched my car.

Like I said, it's not a performance upgrade it's for looks. Although, it is quite a bit lighter than the stock steel hood. If I were a ricer I'd be on here trying to argue with you about how much better my engine bay cooling is now. If you think the TII hood looks rice then, I don't think you have a very good idea of what rice is. If you just don't like the hood that's fine, that's your opinion and you entitled to it but please lay off the rice crap it offends my sense of self respect! LOL

THIS IS RICE:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1988-...em150103589277

My interior was partially painted red when I bought my car. The first thing I did was rip out everything red. I would rather it be missing entirely.

ALSO, There's no such thing as "Good ricers".

If you do it and you have a steel hood right now you'll need the hinges to prevent corossion from happening because the hood is aluminum.

I'd rather have an NA aluminum hood even if i had a TII, it is more aerodynamic than something with a big scoop on it.

oh don't get me wrong I love the look of the tII hood over the stock one especially on a very nice TURBO vert. The reason the turbo is in caps is because thats the only time I would put a tII hood on a vert or any other second gen. But to each thier own and just because I wondn't do it doesn't mean someone else has the same great taste and lack of ricerism as I. haha j/k

I'd burn my TURBO vert before I let you put a T2 hood on it.

Ok, sorry first of all for not getting to this thread sooner. I had no idea that it would get so heated just because I didn't give the whole story. My hood is pretty trashed. I found a TII hood cheap. Not trashed. That's as deep as it gets.
I just wanted to know if water getting in would cause drastic corrosion on engine/gaskets.
To those who gave me that chance, or at least just answered my question, thank you.
Otherwise, to anyone who cares, I have an aftermarket exhaust, intake, rims, body kit, and yes, two decals that tastfully say 'rotary engine'.....which honestly makes more people confused than correcting their V6 beliefs.
I suppose that makes me a ricer, then. Well, you have convinced me that if I do get the hood, I should definately get a nice wing. How's about a double layer 1 ft one? Maybe for good lift I should put another one on the roof?
