Turbo heat shields/ thermal tape

Are there any good tapes/sprays/anything to wrap my turbo in? I put some of that header -wrap on my downpipe, but it's only held on by hose clamps, I don't think that would cut it for the turbo.

If someone knows of some good stuff, I'd love to get rid of my heat shields too, as long as I can keep the turbo from cooking my engine bay.

There are some heat blankets you can buy at.. damn I forget the place. Just wrap them the turbo in it then put the heat shields over it and bolt those down. It should hold everything in place.

I was also thinking of using exhaust wrap on the exhaust housing and downpipe but heard about the excessive heat causing the pipes/metal to develop cracks much more quickly.

That should not be a problem with a good product.

If you wrap your turbo it won't dissipate heat as fast which can cause cracking. Having a good product won't make a difference.

Just what I was thinking. It wouldnt be so bad if this was my dedicated racer and I wasn't a student but for the time being, I may have to pass on the heat wrap.

On another note, its also a good idea to wrap your IC piping, especially the FMIC guys.

The two best manufacturers are for all kinds of automotive thermal wrap are:

Design Engineering

Thermo-Tek

You can get both at Summit Racing.
