Question Turbo Conversion

I have a 1989 Non-Turbo RX-7 that needs an engine rebuild. I thought that instead of putting in another reuilt non-turbo, I might as well spend a little more and put in a rebuilt turbo engine. I asked the guy who I am going to buy the engine from and he said it is possible but that I will need a new computer for the car. My question is if there are any problems in doing this or any disadvantages? And if there are any advantages in doing this?

Thanks!

There's a lot of angles on this conversion. There is one angle that says if you put the turbo eng in you need the turbo transmission to go with it, a turbo driveshaft to match the transmission and then the turbo differential to match the hp and the turbo driveshaft. You also, if you follow this angle, need the whole turbo rear end to handle the hp. You also need the ECU and the wiring harness plus the knock sensor. I'm leaving out a number of items that I just flat forgot. The other angle is that you just need the turbo motor and put your N/A flywheel on it. That way you do not need the turbo transmission and therefore don't need the driveshaft and rear end either. Then all you will need is the ECU and wiring harness, and knock sensor(darn if I can remember what the other things are right now). There is a fellow who did just that and wrote a post recently. Can't remember the name right now. He runs the quarter in really low times. Oh yes. I forgot the turbo uses a intercooler. You'll need that and also the turboii hood with the scoop, although the fellow I mentioned says he does not. He is going to mount a front mounted intercooler later. Now you see why some reccommend just buying a used turboii due to all the changes that should be made to make the turbo work. That said I'm fixing to put my spare turbo in my N/A before the year is over. I have the ECU and tranny and knock sensor and can string wire. Thinking about forgetting about the tranny and doing the flywheel swap. That should bump you to the top.
