turbo 2 housings on street ported motor?
building a street ported motor, was going to leave the exhaust ports alone, then was told i have to grind out diffusers for more flow, now im hearing that you can just use turbo 2 housings because they have no diffusers, can some one tell me the truth

Sourcing new housings just to remove an exhaust diffuser is stupid. You can remove and swap the sleeves. It's not the easiest thing to do.
It will take you no time to grind the diffusers out of your n/a sleeve and you will end up with the same exact thing as the sleeves without diffusers. In the amount of time creating this thread and coming back to read this post, you probably could have had one diffuser almost done being modded. Good luck!

Yes, getting rid of the diffusers is a big improvement and you can just grind them out. I Got someone to use a plasma cutter to get mine out.

your rotor housings might be able to be resurfaced. the n/a sleeve can be replaced with a turbo sleeve or a titanium sleeve from rotary works. IF you have your housings refurbished they can replace the sleeve @ the same time for a couple bucks labor (you supply the sleeves) shameless plug: i have a brand new set of titanium rotary works sleeves for cheap if your intersted pm me

What's the cost on a resurfaced housing and is it as durable as a new housings? I don't know if I'd trust resurfacing, and RW's website doesn't mention anything about it.
As far as the sleeves, the factory ones are made of inconel, which is also commonly used in rocket engine nozzles and anywhere that is going to experience extreme temperatures. From my knowledge of the metal, I'd be more inclined to just mod the stock inconel inserts rather than replace them with titanium, but that's just me.

Yes you can use the turbo rotor housings but you have to block the coolant passages that go through the intake manifold to the turbo. Can be done with freeze plugs. If buying new get the turbo housings. If buying used and you get a set of good n/a housings you can replace the sleeve or grind out the diffuser as others have said. Also you can use 3rd gen rotor housings as well and I think they don't have the coolant passages open like the TII housings do. The downside is for new ones they are about $300 dollars more apiece than the 2nd gen ones.
