i have a turbo 2 . it came wit a fcd on it already for what i don’t know stock exhaust no air pump so i put a acv block off plate and egr block off plate its a 87 and i wasn’t getting any boost so i replaced the vacuum hoses wit silicone ones still no boost my tid is messed put its little it has a little plastic pipe for it . but would that cause no boost at all and the stock cats are still on it . would they be clogged for sure wit no air pump and cause no boost at all . i have and after market boost gauge but it needs to be put on which is goin on this weekand . i know there’s no boost u can feel when a turbo car boosts . i just don’t know what to do anymore any ideas thanks a lot . i don’t want to just keep spending money needlessly . i also checked the intercooler hoses and made sure thats all tight .

 

I also took off the tid and spun the compressor wheel it feels like a new turbo to me . No problems there thanks a lot any help would be really appreciated .

 

The FCD (fuel cut defencer) is used to prevent the stock ECU from cutting fuel to the engine when you reach a preset boost level. Its like putting a salary cap on a football team. It prevents you from making any more power. The sudden fuel cut under boost can also cause detonation. As for not boosting, check the waste gate. I think the stock one is vaccuum operated. IIRC, it should be closed while you are idling, and it will open when the engine is under load allowing the exhaust to flow through the turbo and spool up the compressor.

I'd say get those cat's off and see if they are clogged. How long have u been running no air pump with the stock cats??? That would definately cause low boost situations....

ok it has to be the cats im sure now . i have anther prob . i went to pep boys got a 2.5in pipe for a new tid then a 3in to 2in for the mafc . looked good but theres two things that are on the stock tid that one hose for the bov and one other one which now are both open vented and the car wont hold and idle but it boosts very little boost like 3psi sometimes more im wondering cuase i can do this sat no prob is make it where both them hoses are connented to my new pipe should i do that . and damn is it scary in the rain wit boost . thanks alot for your help i keep hering cats its your cats so thats what im gona do .

 

it was the cats now the car is sickly fast. i really belive like a 13sec car . high 13s . and its running rich wit 8psi in 3rd the highest i got so far .

i think he is saying that the car just feels alot faster. think of it like this. a rice boy who had a civic then jumped in a t2 with no cats. a t2 always feels faster once u mod it or take off a restriction.

thing is i wasnt boosting at all the stock boost gague is wrong no matter how u look at it . then i put on the aftermakit one and it said no boost then i gutted the cats and got boost now its sicky fast i went from no boost to boost if u drove in the car u could feel how fast it is . im gona take it to the track and see whats up i fig high 13s i said fig did`t say it is a 13sec car its not a fishy story damn i love turbos mmmm never will i buy a wast of money na again wit such little work and go so fast mmm yeah whatever if u belive me or not i dont care if i see u in the st i`ll race ya . and who u .
