Tune-Up Fluid Guide
Well, being that we don't have one, and sometimes you don't have time to look through the FSM, I'm writing a fluids guide for the 86-88 Rx7. All fluids are from the FSM, by the way.
Engine
Oil Capacity (dry): 5.8L, 6.1US Quarts
Viscosity varies with time of year and temperature. I like 10w30 because its straight forward, but some like to run stuff like 10w40.
Transmission
Standard-
Turbo Capacity: 2.5L, 2.6US Quarts/ N/A Capacity: 2L, 2.1US Quarts
GL-4/GL-5
0*F or lower: SAE 80W
0*F or higher: SAE 90
All season: SAE 80W90
Automatic-
ATF- Dexron II
Total Capacity: 7.5L, 7.9US Quarts
Rear Differential
Standard
Gear Oil Capacity: 1.3L, 1.4US Quarts
API GL-5
0*F or lower: SAE 80W
0*F or higher: SAE 90
Limited Slip
Gear Oil Capacity: 1.3L, 1.4US Quarts
API GL-5 Special Lubricant for LSD
SAE 90
Cooling System
Coolant Capacity (with heater): 8.7L, 9.2US Quarts
Power Steering
Use ATF Type F (M2C33-F), or Dexron II
Brake System
Use FMVSS 116, DOT-3 or DOT-4, or SAEJ1703
I think I've hit all the fluids now. If not, tell me, and I'll add to it.
