Tubro swap

I have a 88 Vert that I enjoy driving. The car has 170K miles on it and smokes bad on start up. I bought a 1987 Tubro II coupe that has 100K miles on it and runs. My problem is I want to swap the Tubro drive train into the Vert, but the Tubro will only pull 122HP on the dino @ 4000 RPM. After that the HP drops like a rock. I have a JDM Turbo II engine that I was told had 35K miles on it. The tag show a hot run and 150PSI compresstion.
The question is should I just do the swap with my JDM engine and hope it's good, or should I try to find the problem with the Coupe's engine and swap a runner??
Who in the San Diego, CA north county would do the swap for me and what should it cost??
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Sheldon

Tubro swap

That what was on a paper tag on the engine when I bought. I bought it fron a guy in town that had bought it from a dealer of JDM engines.
Any idea why my Turbo coupe will not put out any HP above 2-3K RPM on the dyno??
Thanks
Sheldon

+1

JDM = crapshoot. I would recommend rebuilding the JDM if you intend on dropping that one in there. Swap everything from the coupe into the vert that you need, rebuild the JDM, then drop it into the vert; from what it sounds like your vert needs a rebuild, and the turbo coupe engine may very well need one too.

Swap in the 87's motor, but rebuild it first. If the JDM mad tyte yo motor is an S5, then definitely throw in the S4. My motor practically fell into my car, but a few wiring changes had to be made for the swap to work properly. Unfortunately, my turbo is bad on mine. BUMMER! Also, what is a TUBRO?

Your TII should be pulling more HP than that. With these cars a few things can go wrong. The first precat on my 87 TII was clogged @ 111,000 miles.

Do some research and learn about your TII.Try and get that running better. As your knowledge grows you can then take on a turbo swap.
