Tubes in slicks?

Is this true, that slicks require tubes in them to hold air?

Has anyone ever heard of this before?

I was on the MT site and thats were I saw the "need tubes options".

But when I went to FAQ they said in a vague way that they help, and won't hold air, but not needed???

Not needed, but won't hold air,, WTF

I was confused, and my email is down right now, so I have no other choice than to ask the 7 people here right now.

I used to run ET streets on the Trans Am.. 2 weeks after inflation, they'd be down 5-10psi.. They hold air just fine at the track, but they'll slowly leak down without tubes... At least in my experience.
