Unhappy Trying to replace my air pump/fan belt, need some help

The air pump/fan belt is pretty chewed up on this poor thing and needs replacement. I looked in the Haynes and that wasn't a whole lot of help, and couldn't find anything pertaining to belt removal in the shop manual.

Looking at it, all I need to do to remove the AC and power steering belts is to loosen these two bolts and slide the pulleys down. I can't get them to budge. I've even pulled out the rubber mallet and it didn't do it.

Do you have to loosen the nut holding the pulley onto it's spindle or something crazy like that? Here's a pic of how far I managed to get. So far my rotary mechanic skills are proving to be lacking.

Thanks tons!

Ok, I tried a couple of other things and soaked that area up with penetrating oil, but still not having any luck. The air pump was cake, just had to loosen the two bolts on the top/bottom and it slid.

Your supposed to loosen the BIG bolt on the pulley also, that would have allowed that pulley to slide down..

Yeah, that worked great, I'm just retarded. I managed to destroy one of my faithful ratchet drivers as well, oops.

What size bolt is that on the compressor? I don't have a socket big enough.

Does 22 or 23mm sound about right? A 15/16 inch socket is a bit too big, although I could use it if I wanted to risk stripping the nut. I'll need to get a bigger crescent wrench if that doesn't work out, lol.
