Trying Out SEM Color Coat for interior color change

I'm in the process of changing my S4 GTU's interior from Blue/Grey to Black. I tested SEM's Laundau Black aerosol on an old and beat down grey sunroof headlining panel. Here are the results.

The finish is not as soft as headliner fabric in good condition, but this panel was thrashed due to water leaks. You can still see a bit of grey here and there, but only under direct lighting. I may give it another coat just to be sure.

My Grey headlining is in great condition so that should turn out great.

Never used SEM on fabrics, but I used to work at a hot rod interior shop and we always used SEM on plastics we were changing the colors of. Fantastic products, great colors and hold up against almost anything. Would definitely like to see how it works with another coat. If it holds up as well as it does on hard interior parts, then you won't have any problems.

The lighting on the photo is horrible. It looks much better and evenly colored in person. Honestly, I don't think I'd be able to tell the difference between an OEM black panel and this one had I not painted it myself. I'm only spraying the headlining since it's not subject to sunlight or repeated touching. I may paint some of the plastics but I'm kind of liking the Grey/black combo. My seats are still blue but I'm replacing those soon.

I finally broke down and upscaled to SEM (it is significantly more expensive) and it is well worth the money.
None of the other "sticks to plastics!" work nearly as well or look as good (lookin at you, Fusion...).
Too soon to say how well it holds up but it's looking good so far.

Hey now, fusion properly prepped and clear coated can look nice. I turned a civic HF interior plastics black and it is still holding 4 years later of massive abuse and a guy that never cleans his ****.. ever.

But SEM is the cats meow. I won't argue there.

you can get that paint from a local auto body supplier in a can which makes refinishing large panels much easier and comes out better than spray cans

Yeah, we did the MR2 in SEM Landau Black with the spray cans and it looked brand new. It was amazing.

On Amazon the quart is $55 ( $1.72/oz ) and the 13oz spray cans are $12 ( $.92/oz ) not counting shipping and not eligible for Amazon Prime. Does the quart provide better coverage or employ reducer? The RX7 needs it so would be interested in your experience with the quart.

usually a little reducer, not sure how amazon prices compare to an auto body supply but I just kind of doubt you get 13oz of liquid material from a spray can.
A quart should do an entire interior for sure
