Trying to ID a TII tranny.
I picked up a TII tranny yesterday, first one I've had now, but the guy didnt know if it was from an S4 or S5. It was a part pulled from a guy's son who owned an RX-7 six or seven years ago and was sitting in his garage. So, what's the best way to physically ID the differences? I tried to search but could not find exactly what I was looking for.

I'd like to see you guys ID one of those "smooth case" turbo trannys.
Who cares...
As long it has the 1" x 23 input shaft, you're good to go.
If you really insist on ID'ing the trans, just spin the input shaft and count the # of rotations on the opposite side when shifted into 5th gear...
