Does anyone want to give me a quick course in posting pictures?

 

Hi, everyone, sorry that took me so long to post the pictures. *sigh* Anyway, here's a few examples. I want to point out that while the shift boot and ebrake boot I have is made by the same guy who makes everyone's RX-7 **** boots, the difference is that I took the plastic casing that it clips onto and I made that into leather too. I do not have a picture of that. I also don't have a picture of the leather kick panels I made... Those go on the outerwalls, just next to the doors in the passenger compartment.

To start out with, I have no idea what these things are called, except that I thought they'd be cool to have done in leather. These are panels for the wall area just behind the occupants. The seatbelt comes past this on its way to the ceiling. These basically start in the passenger compartment and go back to the glass hatch. This is the original plastic peice from Mazda, just to give you an idea of what I'm talking about (This is the before picture.):



And this is what I've done with it:

 

 

Now we also have the defroster panel. I have two new defroster vents that I bought from Mazdatrix, but they're not installed yet. When you install this, you can't see the stitching, but I think the stitching is really characteristic just the same. This leather is a lighter color of black, it was made to contrast the leather of the dashboard.

 

 

I have been working on a suede headliner, and it's basically finished, but I'm too worn out to complete it. This is the sunroof panel that I made first, to match it. It snaps into the metal underframe of the sunroof just like the stock sunroof headliner:

 

These are the leather door panels I was talking about. The panels originally came out of an 88 AE, so they already had the "wrinkle" leather backpanels. I cleaned those up, and then added a matted finish, water proof leather to the rest of the vinyl on the panel. Keep in mind that the door pullers are not in the actual photo, because they're temporarily off the panel. The door puller goes back on very easily. Note that the "wrinkle" theme is continued through the leather on the rest of the panel, so it's a stylization:

 

 

And remember, I still have the door puller, it's just not installed right now.

I dunno, there's more. The pictures don't really do the dashboard justice, because you don't really get the idea unless it's fully covered in trim paneling and that stuff is installed again. I do not have that paneling to take pictures with. I also have the suede headliner, but it's unfinished. I guess you guys can take a look at that if you want:



I'm not interested in finishing it.

 

Oh yeah, and I also made a middle console. I want to redo the top, where the armrest goes:

thanks for posting some pics but you need to change the lighting... or use natural light or something. You really can't see much of anything in those pics.

Also, the door pannels that you pictures are actually from a S5 car. They may have come in an anniversary that you purchased from someone, but they aren't AE... definately S5. I'll save my comments for better pics

Yeah, the AE's are a flat panel black. S5's came in both flat panel leather and a ribbed, "curtain" type finish.

 

Hmm, okay, then I was lied to when I bought them. Oh well. Taking pictures was hard enough, though... The lighting sucks around here.
