Is it true...?
Is it true...?
I just bought an '89 FC GXL with 77,000 original miles on engine and chassis. Some dude today told me that rotary engines usually need a rebuild job at about 100,000 miles. Is this true? The car is NOT a turbo btw.
This is not true. Many non turbo rx7's run well over 200,000 miles. I have 7000 miles to go until I hit 200,000 on my S5 NA. Now if the engine is ported or you don't keep up on maintenance then that could make the engine life shorter.
168,xxx on the 'vert, and she hasn't missed a beat. Regular maintainance (oil changes at 3k, flush coolant yearly, etc. as spelled out in FAQ's of this forum) and keep one eye on that temp gauge, and you should be just fine.
